Wait. I didn't even know you were engaged?!
We know this is probably a surprise to a lot of people! Everyone's wedding is very special and personal to them. If you've met us, you know we like to keep things pretty simple. We realized a long time ago that the idea of a small, city hall wedding would be our perfect day. While we're sure lots of you would have been there in a heartbeat to help cheer us on, we felt it was more "us" to focus just on each other and the promise we were making.
For those of you that watch too much daytime television: No, Carly isn't pregnant, and no, Will isn't trying to use Carly's Canadian citizenship to escape from the law! We decided that after five years together, it was finally time to make it official and figured there was no point in waiting any longer. Although, Canada does have really good health benefits...
OK, backup. When did this all start?
Will and Carly met in the fall of 2012 through their mutual friend, David. While Carly will tell you it was love at first sight, Will claims it wasn't until hearing Carly whisper a Pokémon joke under her breath one night at a party that he truly fell for her.
Shortly afterwards, Hurricane Sandy struck - Will found himself without electricity and Carly was evacuated from her apartment. Will showed himself to be a true gentleman and helped Carly hike up the 17 flights (multiple times!) to get what she needed while her apartment was without power for a month. In turn, Carly gave Will a place to sleep and free wifi while they both took shelter at Carly's dad's place uptown.
After a few more weeks of flirtation, they finally went on their first date to the very fancy and very exclusive...Taco Bell in Union Square. Over Doritos Locos Tacos, they realized that, like Doritos & tacos, Will & Carly were a pretty perfect pairing.
Since 2012, they've spent their time traveling and building a life together, supporting each other through business school, job changes, and plenty of life's dramas. Two years ago, they adopted a shiba inu named Mishka, who - despite being super weird and having more than a few quirks - has become their furry daughter.
So how did he propose?
Will proposed on Saturday, August 12th, 2017 in Central Park, NYC. While plans were already underway for the wedding, Will wanted to make it official by surprising Carly and popping the question. Under the guise of a casual walk in the park with our dog Mishka, Will lured Carly out to a secluded spot under the trees.
Little did Carly know, Will had convinced his friend Andrew to hide in the bushes to capture the moment. As they turned the corner, Will got down on one knee and pulled out a strawberry flavored Minions Ring Pop. Through many happy tears, Carly said yes, while Mishka ate grass in excitement.
What was the wedding like?
We got married on Monday, September 25th, 2017 at the Manhattan City Clerk's Office (aka "City Hall"). After a long wait and a short ceremony, we headed over to the South Street Seaport for some more pictures and a champagne toast on the water. That evening, our awesome parents treated us to an amazing and very special dinner with our closest family at The NoMad Restaurant. We topped off the night with a staycation at The London NYC.

A few days after we got married, we took off for Iceland! We spent a bit of time exploring Reykjavik before jumping in an RV and driving north. We lived the #CamperLife for five days, touring around the famous Diamond Circle, snowmobiling on a glacier, relaxing in natural hot springs, chasing waterfalls, and just a little off-roading in our 4X4 RV we named Dorothy. We also celebrated Will's birthday on the road by indulging in some local trout pizza (don't knock it 'til you try it)!
After a week roving around the Icelandic countryside and amazingly managing to catch a northern lights sighting, we ended up back in Reykjavik for one last big night. An amazing dinner at Grillmarkaðurinn and a celebratory night at the Apotek Hotel capped things off before we had to return to real life.

Well, what now?
Who knows! Our adventures and life together are only beginning, and we are just as excited as you to see what's in store for us next. In the short term, we are enjoying a little quiet after planning a whirlwind wedding and honeymoon in less than two months. Will is psyched to be settling into his new job and Carly is looking forward to plotting their next big trip. In the medium term, we recently put down more permanent roots and became homeowners as we settle into our lives as a married couple (wish us luck)!
